Qiang Wei Appointed Jiangxi Party Chief

BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Wednesday announced the appointments of new Party chiefs for Jiangxi province.

Qiang Wei has been appointed secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of Jiangxi Province, replacing Su Rong.

Qiang Wei, a native of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, was born in March 1953. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.

Before taking up his post as deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee in March 2001, Qiang had worked as Party chief of Beijing Chemical Works, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, Party chief of Shijingshan District of Beijing and a member of the Standing Committee the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.

In 2007, Qiang became Party chief of northwest China's Qinghai Province.

Su Rong is now a vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee.
